Copyright concerns and takedowns
Look, we respect creative work. We really do. We also want our visitors to do the same. If we accidentally posted something you own, just let us know. You can ask us to remove it. We follow the online copyright rules. Yes, the official rules under Title 17, USC Section 512c. Most folks just call it the DMCA.
We publish tech tips and guides. So, we get safe harbor protection. In plain English, that means we aren't blamed if someone else puts up a file without our knowledge. But we must act fast to remove it once you tell us. We like keeping our platform clean. Need something gone? Just email us. But first, check off everything on this list:
1. A signature. Digital or scribbled by hand. Just prove you own the stuff or represent the owner.
2. What got copied? Tell us about the image, text, or file.
3. The exact link. Give us the URL from our blog. Don't just say "the tech tip." Send the actual link so we can find it in seconds.
4. Contact info. We need your name. We need your street address. And we need your email and phone number. This is so we can reach out to you.
5. A good faith note. Write down that you genuinely believe the owner or the law never allowed us to use that material.
6. A solemn promise. State that everything you wrote is true. You must swear to this under penalties for lying under oath (perjury). That means you legally promise you own the rights or speak for the owner.
Watch out: there is a law (Title 17 USC Section 512f). Seriously, don't fake a claim. Lying about ownership can turn into a huge mess. If you claim a file is yours when it isn't, you might face a real lawsuit. That means massive court fees and lawyer costs out of your pocket. Verify your facts before hitting send.
Also: we usually share your complaint, name, and email with the person who posted the material. By sending a takedown email, you agree that your details can be shared with them. Fair warning.
Where to email us
Send your copyright notes to our team. Email is the fastest way to get our attention:
Email: ethnickoti@gmail.com
If you leave out any of these items, our hands are tied. We won't process the request.
Putting your content back up
If we took down some of your material by mistake, you can send us a counter-notice to get it back. This is done under the 17 USC Section 512(g)(3) rule.
To file this, send us a written email containing these items:
1. Your signature. Digital or physical.
2. What got removed? Tell us exactly what content we took offline, and paste the exact web link it occupied before we disabled it.
3. Your word. You must swear under penalties for lying under oath (perjury) that you honestly believe we made a mistake or got the wrong page.
4. Consent to court. Share your name. Give us your street mailing address and your active phone number. You must also write down that you accept the authority of your local Federal District Court. If you live outside the USA, you must state that you accept the authority of any court where we are located. Plus, state that you will accept court papers if the person who complained decides to sue you.
Email your counter-notice to ethnickoti@gmail.com or send it through our Contact page.
Repeat violators
We document every single claim. If someone constantly uploads things they don't own and ignores warnings, we kick them off the site. No exceptions.
Policy changes
We can change the details of this page whenever we need to. Check back once in a while to see if we adjusted how we handle copyright complaints.
